Caterina Summonte received the Laurea degree in Physics from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1982. She is a full-time researcher at Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche—Unit of Bologna, Bologna, since 1988. She authored about 120 articles in international Journals, and two book chapters. Her main interest is the optical characterization of thin film and nanostructured materials. She is active in the field of silicon-based photovoltaics; physics and technology of micro/nanocrystalline and amorphous silicon and related alloys, silicon nanodots, and optical characterization of materials. She deals with plasma deposition of nanocrystalline and epitaxial silicon deposited at low temperature, chemical transport deposition, and VHF plasma growth.
