Primary tabs
Research interests are in the field of semiconductor devices and electronic materials, in particular Photovoltaics and in the area of Renewable Energy.
A. Scuto received the M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Catania, Italy, in 2006. After Msc, he collected different professional experiences working for international company as STMicroelectronics, Numonyx and Kinetics. In 2012 he joined Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM) of National Research Council of Italy (CNR) awarding a scholarship (EU financed program) in “Microscopic and electrical characterization techniques of materials used in solar cells”. Currently Andrea is a research fellow at CNR-IMM labs of Catania and he is in the process of achieving his Ph.D. in ‘Information and Communication Technology’ at the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo, Italy. His research and doctoral project are principally based to the design, to the implementation and to the characterization of both traditional (c-Si, a-SI:H) and new generation solar cells (thin film - multijunction - heterojunction) and their use combined with concentrator systems. Studying all different PV technologies and analyzing the morphological, structural, optical and electrical solar cell properties, the study is principally based to the full system optimization, to the defects identification and to the cells/modules efficiency and reliability improving. In the field he is author/co-author of different papers published in international journals and, in the last years, he had the opportunity to be speaker in many international focused conferences and to strictly collaborate with international laboratories and specialized company as Enel Green Power, 3SUN and STMicroelectronics.
