Objectives: The aim of this study is to estimate the DII in BC survivors living in a Mediterranean area after 12 months of dietary treatment.Methods: This study is part of an ongoing trial on the effectiveness of a treatment program including dietary modification, physical activity and vitamin D supplementation (DEDiCa Study) at two intensity levels, high (group A) and standard care (group B) on BC recurrence. The dietary advice in group A focused on a MedD low in glycemic index (GI) and in group B on a MedD high in whole grains. The MedD was assessed by a 14-point Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS) in 223 women with BC diagnoses. The DII was computed based on 26 micro-and macro-nutrients derived from 7-day food records filled by each participant. The DII adjusted for energy intake (E-DII™) also was calculated.
